There are times in all of our lives where we must walk through the valley of the shadow of death, or what has been called, The Dark Night of the Soul. It could be any number of issues from illness, to financial hardship, to the death of a loved one, to the challenge of our faith, to doubting or giving up on God. Jesus Christ himself, the very Son of God, went through this as well so that he could say that he was tried in everyway humanly possible. Jesus also instructs us to take up our cross daily and follow him, that we will have trials in this world, and that if this is they way they treated him, how much more will the world treat his followers. Take heart Jesus has said, " I have overcome the world!"
Additionally, 1 Corinthians 10:13 states
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
Psalm 23:4 (KJV)
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
"the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
